Ben Tre Museum was established in 1981, with an area of about 20,000m². The main facade of the Museum faces the Ben Tre River with shady old trees and many valuable, lush ornamental flowers – a poetic, gentle, and profound landscape full of charm and attraction. The back of the museum faces Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, one of the busiest streets in Ben Tre City. This is a beautiful location, convenient in all aspects, a meeting place for people and tourists who want to learn about the land of Coconut.

National monument Relic – Residence and activities of Mr. Pham Ngoc Thao
The building was built by the French colonialists on an area of over 20,000m² in 1876. The interior has an ancient house-style architecture, the exterior is decorated with highly artistic Western motifs. During the war, the French colonialists built this building to serve as the Palace of the Governor. During the American period, this building was chosen by the US puppet regime as the Governor’s Palace. Despite the rain, sun, bombs and bullets of war, the building still stands intact and was recognized as a National Historical Relic in 2015.
Currently, the building has been renovated to become a place to display images and artifacts about the history and revolutionary traditions of the people of Ben Tre province in the resistance war against foreign invaders; display many valuable images and documents about the intelligence soldier Pham Ngoc Thao; display the Giong Noi Archaeological Site.
The house displays the socio-economic achievements of Ben Tre
The house displays images and artifacts in the economic, cultural and social construction of the locality since April 30, 1975 to the present – this place is also a place to display unique and rich topics in many fields with the great achievements of the province.
Coconut House
The 3-room house is built of coconut wood in the style of a Southern rural house. The house is designed in a gentle, open style with a strong national character, reflecting the simplicity and soul of the Vietnamese people. Inside the house worshiping President Ho Chi Minh and the intelligence soldier Pham Ngoc Thao, on the wall are displayed images and artifacts related to Ben Tre coconut trees in the resistance war as well as in cultural activities.
At the coconut house also organizes exchanges of “don ca tai tu”, “hat Sac bua” – Vietnamese folk music … on the 30th night of each month. Coming here, visitors can feel the peace and warmth while enjoying Ben Tre folk songs performed by artists and amateurs.
Outdoor exhibition area
This place displays large-sized artifacts such as plane wrecks, cannons, bomb shells … collected during the war. Around the campus are interwoven miniatures: rice fields, buffaloes, lotus ponds, coconut bridges, … creating a close, familiar feeling for visitors.
