Overview of Prenn Waterfall
Located near the gateway to Da Lat, Prenn Waterfall is one of Da Lat’s eco-tourism sites. The waterfall is at the foot of Prenn Pass, about 10 km from the center of Da Lat. It lies within a remaining pristine forest. As you approach the falls, you will notice a subtle temperature change from the mist. The base of the falls is a small valley covered with flowers and pine trees. The 10m cascading waterfall flows over the small bridge spanning the lake.

Paddling a Raft on the Stream
A small raft, enough for two people, is affordable, allowing us to gently drift on the cool water, gazing up at the cascading white waterfall from afar. The feeling of paddling amidst the lush green scenery, listening to the water lapping against the rafters, and breathing in the scent of the pine forest is incredibly pleasant.
If you’re with your loved one, don’t forget to bring a fully charged phone – the scenery here is so beautiful that you can instantly capture a photo that will make everyone “like” it.
Taking the Cable Car-Admiring Prenn Waterfall from Above
The cable car at Prenn Waterfall is a relaxing yet highly worthwhile experience. Sitting in a cabin suspended in mid-air, looking down at the vast pine forest and the white waterfall hidden below – the feeling is both relaxing and incredibly “wow-worthy.”
Each cabin seats a few people, providing a smooth ride, ideal for groups of friends or families. Going early in the morning is ideal; the air is fresh, the sunlight is just right, and the view from above is much clearer and more beautiful.
Jeep Through the Forest
Instead of walking down to the waterfall, we chose to experience a Jeep ride, and it was absolutely worth it! The vehicle sped through slopes, crossed streams, and weaved through pine forests – each bend was an exhilaration.
The wind on our faces, the engine’s sound blending with the birdsong, and the gurgling water were truly adventurous yet close to nature. It was even more fun in a large group, with laughter and shouts of “wow!” every time the vehicle tilted around a bend.
Visiting Au Lac Temple
On the eastern peak of the waterfall is Au Lac Temple – a place of worship for the Hung Kings. The temple complex is modeled on the Hung Temple in Phu Tho, set amid a peaceful mountain forest. From the Upper Temple, looking out into the distance, you can see the misty green Elephant Mountain (Pinhatt) shrouded in clouds, a scene that makes everyone stop and take a deep breath.
After strolling around the temple and washing your hands at the Jade Well, you feel as if all the fatigue from the long journey has been washed away.
Visiting the Zoo – Meeting the Mountain and Forest “Residents”
The zoo at Prenn Waterfall has been in operation since the 1960s, nestled among the green trees. Inside, we encountered a variety of animals, including tigers, bears, monkeys, deer, and crocodiles.
In addition, the wildlife zoo houses many characteristic reptiles, including snakes, geckos, iguanas, and monitor lizards. You will be introduced to them by a guide and may touch them if you are comfortable.
Elephant Riding, Ostrich Riding
One exciting, unique activity visitors shouldn’t miss at Prenn Waterfall is elephant or ostrich riding. This is an opportunity for visitors to get closer to nature, especially with gentle elephants or agile ostriches.
