Hoa Lu – Tam Coc is a perfect combination for a day trip to learn about a dark period in Vietnam’s history when it was conquered by the Northern Invaders. Hoa Lu is a sacred land with two temples honoring the 10th-century kings who made great contributions to the nation. Next, let’s take a boat trip along the Ngo Dong River to enjoy the landscape in Tam Coc. You will know why it’s named Halong Bay on land.

7:30 – 8:15. Our guide & driver will pick you up at your hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter, then depart by coach for Hoa Lu (2.5 hrs). Visit the historic capital of Vietnam and the famous ancient temples of Le and the Dinh Dynasties. Then our bus will transfer you from Hoa Lu to Tam Coc for lunch around 12:30 PM.

After lunch, you will get on a bamboo boat – rowed by the local people – in Hoang Long River to visit Tam Coc (three caves) on the way. You pass through three enormous caves that provide a brief respite from the intense summer sun. It takes approximately two hours to go up and down the river, and along the way, you witness local fisherfolk, village life along the river, and, of course, the striking limestone karst formations that Tam Coc is famous for.

16h30: We take the car and come back to Ha Noi.

19h30: We arrive in Ha Noi and finish the Hoa Lu Tam Coc tour.

Note:

  • The itinerary can be changed due to weather, tide levels, traffic condition and operating conditions…
  • After a boat trip on the river, the boat rowers always expect a tip of about $1 or $2.
  • Special requests (diet or vegetarian, …) should be sent before your departure date.
  • Pick-up time takes 40-60 minutes; pick-up time will be confirmed after you make a reservation. If you do not want to wait for so long on the bus, please go to the last pick up point: Hanoi Opera House at 8:20-8:30 Am
  • The drop-off point is back at the original pickup point on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday There is only 1 drop-off point (the Thang Long Water Puppet Show Theatre at 57 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem) if the tour departs on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday – due to the Night Market on the weekend in Hanoi Old Quarter Area because most of the street in the Hanoi Old Quarter area does not allow vehicles, and is only for walking
  • Surcharge 5 USD/pax if travel date falls on Lunar New Year
