For a long time, Bac Ha buffalo market has been the largest “buffalo and cow trading area” of the Mong and Nung ethnic groups from the districts of Si Ma Cai, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong (Lao Cai), and Sin Man (Ha Giang). This is also a place for exchange and trading among local people and traders. Previously, the market met every Saturday, at the same time as the Bac Ha market, but now the buffalo market meets every Friday.
On the road on both sides of the river in the center of Bac Ha town, about 1km, hundreds of buffaloes and cows are brought by locals and traders. Nearby houses lead their buffaloes; far away houses hire trucks to transport them. Some people hope to find good buffalo at a good price, while others hope their buffalo and cows will get a good price.

Buffalo buyers often carefully examine details such as the buffalo’s legs, horns, claws, and overall appearance. The purchase and sale are completed quickly after bargaining and cash exchange.
