Explore Ba Vi National Park
With an area of nearly 11,000 hectares, Ba Vi National Park is considered the “green lung” of the west of Hanoi capital. In the national park, there are tourist attractions such as the ancient abandoned church, covered with moss and mysterious, or the cactus greenhouse.
If you do not drive to the top of the mountain, the 2-4 hour Ba Vi Forest Trek is suitable for those who like light trekking. The path leads through trails through dense primeval forests or towering bamboo forests.
The French once built many resort villas in Ba Vi, but over the ups and downs of time, these structures have been severely damaged. Therefore, visitors will be amazed by the architectural foundations from hundreds of years ago when going deep into the forest. At level 600, the colonel’s residence is a typical French architectural work in Ba Vi, still quite intact. There is a barbed wire fence, a stone wall surrounding it, more than 2 m high, 0.5 m thick and some medium-sized machine gun emplacements.
Going up a little further is the summer camp for French children and colonial government officials, including 4 level 4 houses solidly built of stone. The collapsed church is located at an altitude of 800 m, in the middle of the old forest canopy. Abandoned for many years, the roof of the church is gone, leaving the gloomy church among the dense foliage.

In particular, at an altitude of 1,000-1,100 m on the western slope of Tan Vien peak is a secret political prison system solidly built to imprison revolutionary soldiers. The prison was arranged into 3 areas: the first one was the place for prison guards; second area and third were where prisoners are detained. With a total area of nearly 1,000 m², the prison system in Ba Vi can detain 100-200 prisoners.
Thuong Temple
The Thuong Temple is a spiritual relic site located on the top of Tan Vien Mountain. Visitors can also challenge themselves by climbing 500 steps to the top of the mountain. This is the place to worship the Saint of Tan Vien mount – Son Tinh. Ao Vua
Ao Vua is a tourist area located at the foot of Tan Vien mountain, in Bat Dam village, Tan Linh commune, Ba Vi district. Ao Vua is a small pond, but it is full of water all year round. According to legend, the water in Ao Vua was originally raised by “King of Water” to fight his enemy. This place also has Mui Guom well, associated with the story of the King sticking his sword down the mountain so that soldiers could dig a well to get water when fighting the enemy.

Khoang Xanh – Tien Stream
