Minh Long White Waterfall (Thác Trắng Minh Long) is a prominent natural landmark in Quang Ngai’s mountainous region. Nestled amidst the Truong Son mountain range, the waterfall lies approximately 30 km southwest of Quang Ngai center. It is distinguished by a cascade of water plunging down a high cliff face, creating a striking white streak against the lush green forest backdrop.

Overview of Minh Long White Waterfall

Official sources estimate the waterfall’s height at between 40 and 60 meters, depending on the measurement method used. As the water cascades down the rock face, it splits into multiple streams, sending up clouds of white spray and mist, a phenomenon that inspired the name “White Waterfall.” A natural pool forms at the base, encircled by large boulders and thriving vegetation.

The appeal of the Minh Long White Waterfall extends beyond the main cascade itself. Upstream, a series of smaller waterfalls lies hidden within the forest. A local trekking route lets visitors explore three distinct waterfalls: a 15-meter fall near an ancient tea plantation, a 20-meter fall amid the forest foliage, and the main 35-meter waterfall (measured along the trekking path). This area is ideal for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The surrounding landscape embodies the characteristic features of Quang Ngai’s highlands, with rolling hills, forests, streams, and local agricultural plots. The climate near the waterfall remains relatively cool thanks to the forest canopy and water mist, making it particularly pleasant during the summer months.

The White Waterfall is also deeply connected to the lives of the Hre ethnic community in Minh Long. Hre settlements line the route to the waterfall, where the blend of traditional homes, hills, and cultivated fields creates a distinctive highland atmosphere.

As a result, a trip to the Minh Long White Waterfall offers a unique opportunity to combine nature exploration with immersion in local culture. Visitors here can admire the waterfall, take photos, enjoy picnics and camping, go trekking, and explore the upstream area. Certain streams and pools at the base of the falls also attract visitors in summer; however, visitors must exercise caution around currents, slippery rocks, and water levels, especially during the rainy season.
