The marble carving village sits at the foot of the Marble Mountain range. It is about 8km from Da Nang city center and is in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, Da Nang city.
According to historical records, the craft village was founded by Mr. Huynh Ba Quat, a native of Thanh Hoa Province. At the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, the Da Nang Non Nuoc fine-art stone village was founded. Huynh Ba Quat settled at the foot of Ngu Hanh Son mountain and discovered a cluster of marble mountains, using them to create fine art stone works. He then passed the profession on to his children, grandchildren, and others in the village.
In the early 19th century, the Nguyen Dynasty built many mausoleums and palaces, which gave the Non Nuoc Marble carving village in Da Nang the opportunity to develop.
Today, the Non Nuoc Marble carving village in Da Nang has grown rapidly, with more than 500 production facilities bringing to market increasingly unique and diverse fine art products. In 2014, this village was designated a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, thereby certifying the preservation and development of its traditional arts.
