Prominent ancient houses include the family homes of Ms. Ong Thi Mang, Mr. Tran Ngoc Duat, Ngo Viem, Le Duc Duc, and Ngo Thi Trinh.

In particular, Phong Nam village also preserves the ancient temple, named Thai Giam, built in stilt-house architecture and said to be more than 500 years old. The temple was built with 4 rosewood pillars, covered with thatch, then built with lime mortar, yin-yang tiles, and ancient moss over time. According to the elders, the Thai Giam temple is the only one of the “four temples” of the ancient Phong Nam village that still exists.

Than Nong communal house, also known as Muc Dong communal house, was established at the end of Emperor Tu Duc’s reign (1848 – 1883). The communal house has a structure with 3 parts connected together from the outside to the inside. There are a front hall and a back hall, each formed of 5 rooms.

On the 6 rows of pillars in the pavilion, there hang parallel sentences engraved with Chinese characters, painted red and gilded with gold. Those are the compliments of famous people Phan Boi Chau and Cao Ba Quat during their visits to the communal house. The middle space worships Shennong, the founder of agriculture, who helps villagers pray for good weather. The left side worships the ancestors of the right, who openly cultivated and settled, and the right side worships the predecessors of the Muc Dong.
