When mentioning Saigon, people often think of the most modern and bustling city in the country, but few remember that it also has many historical sites of its own, especially historic relics. And this one day Ho Chi Minh City tour would be a perfect combination that saves time for you to understand Saigon’s past and present as well as go to Cu Chi – a place that marks the resounding history of Saigon, and takes you to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, the very same tunnels that played an integral part in the Vietnam-American War.

  • Independence Palace, a top choice for travelers looking to explore a piece of Vietnamese history and cultural heritage.
  • Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the oldest and largest Catholic Churches in Vietnam, built by French colonists between October 1877 and April 1880. Famous for its beautiful French-inspired architecture and towering bell towers that reach 190 feet, it’s truly a sight to behold.
  • War Remnants Museum, where you can find shocking evidence of atrocities committed by the foreign aggressors during Vietnam’s two national liberation wars.
  • Central Post Office, constructed when Vietnam was part of French Indochina in the late 19th century. It counts with Gothic, Renaissance, and French influences.
  • Crawl through the tight tunnels in Cu Chi, walk around the subterranean village built by the Viet Cong, and learn more about the history of the Vietnam-American War.

7:40 AM gathering at Viet Dream Travel office (184 Le Lai, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). Free pick up from the hotel’s location on the main street around the backpacker area in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Take the morning trip to visit Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, which was built on the site of the former Norodom Palace. The Independence Palace is a well-known landmark of Ho Chi Minh City and was designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu. Continue seeing the beautiful structures from the French Colonial era, such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the historic Central Post Office. Followed by the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum - a place to preserve the nation's heroic achievements and the past of war. The remaining artifacts and images serve as strong evidence denouncing the crimes of the colonial invaders and, at the same time, reflect our people's will to fight and win to regain national independence. This place is like a quiet historical moment in the middle of bustling Saigon...

At noon, you go to the restaurant for lunch and a rest. Then the group continued to depart to visit the Cu Chi tunnels. Upon arrival, before exploring the tunnels, you will receive a short introduction followed by a video about how the tunnels were constructed and how people survived the harsh wartime conditions. Then, spend your time exploring the remaining area and tunnel systems, which include specially constructed living areas, such as tunnels, trenches, embankments, fighting nests, food bunkers, sleeping, meeting, kitchen, well, storage...Besides, there are also many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the maze-like tunnels for security purposes during the war. The works are connected to each other or can end independently, depending on the terrain. Visitors will not be surprised when directly visiting this great project, and they will find themselves fighting in the tunnels and watching valuable documentary footage about the war, about how the Vietnamese army and people defeated modern weapons with only the will of the nation. In addition, after visiting, you will also enjoy the specialty dish "Cu chi cassava", a dish that existed throughout the difficult resistance period of the local people. Break time for relaxation or time for those who want to try the real shooting gun. Return to Saigon.
