Surrounded by mountains on all sides, Thang Hen Lake is like a watercolor painting that makes visitors feel like getting lost in a peaceful place, immersing themselves in the wonders of nature.

Thang Hen in Tay ethnic language means “bee tail”, because from above, the lake has a diamond shape like the tail of a bee. The lake is surrounded by a system of ancient forests on limestone mountains.

Thang Hen Lake is a complex of 36 natural freshwater lakes with unique names such as: Thang Vat, Na Ma, Thang Loong, Thang Hoi.., each lake has its own separate bank but is connected through an underground cave in the heart of the rocky mountain. The distance between the lakes is from a few dozen to a few hundred meters.

The lake is the gathering place of rivers and streams around the area and flows through the cave system. On days of heavy rain, the lake overflows into the surrounding valleys, creating a chain of immense green lakes. While other lakes are often very turbid during the flood season, the water in Thang Hen Lake is always clear.

Especially in September – October, the lake water sometimes drains after only a few hours, then fills up again immediately afterward.
