On this day trip to two famous destinations in the Mekong Delta (My Tho & Vinh Long), you will see the idyllic natural landscapes and the cultural features of the people of southern Vietnam. Tasting succulent fruits right in the garden, listening to traditional music that has been officially recognized by UNESCO as an intangible heritage, traveling by boat on large and small rivers – experience the way of life of the people here, and see the rustic charm and beauty in the simplicity, but full of happiness of the Mekong Delta.
7:40 AM gathering at Viet Dream Travel office - 184 Le Lai, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Free pick up from the hotel’s location on the main street in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Begin the morning with a smooth one-and-a-half-hour bus ride through rice field scenery along National Highway 1, which brings you to the beautiful rural city of My Tho, where you will visit Vinh Trang pagoda. The pagoda has ancient, unique architectural and artistic relics dating back to the 19th century, imbued with Eastern architecture and blended with Western trends, creating a valuable work of culture and design. Visitors will be overwhelmed by the sight of Buddha statues carved with meticulous care and creativity by skilled craftsmen.
Leaving Vinh Trang Pagoda, you go up a motorboat, overlooking floating houses where fish are farmed beneath the houses, and watch the Rach Mieu bridge. After 15 minutes, the boat docked at the Thoi Son tourist area. Then, you will take a walk around the village streets, visit and learn about the lives of local people, and go to orchards to enjoy seasonal fruits while sipping fruit, you can enjoy the smooth, deep sounds from the guitar and lyrics through Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử - A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity). Back on the boat, down the Tien River, the boat will take you to Vinh Long Province to visit Ben Tre's specialty coconut candy factory and rice paper factory in a local commune, where you can learn how to make candy, and see handicrafts made from the coconuts.
Afterward, take an amazing rowing boat trip along the island's small creeks, shaded by large coconuts, to a local restaurant, then enjoy special Vietnamese dishes (vegetarian options are available). After lunch, visitors can take a bike tour around the village or board a horse-drawn carriage to visit the village streets of the local commune, so you can see the fruit gardens and the simple life of the coconut people.
