Overview of the Ham Ho Ecotourism Area

Ham Ho is located in Phu Lam Village, approximately 50 km from the center of Quy Nhơn. Nestled amidst mountains and forests, the area boasts fresh air and lush green scenery year-round. A distinctive feature of Ham Ho is the harmonious blend of rivers, streams, rocky mountains, and natural forests, creating a landscape that is both majestic and poetic.

In Vietnamese, “Hầm Hô” is a local name derived from the distinctive sound created when water cascades from a 6–7-meter-high waterfall into wide rock cavities, producing an echo that resembles a loud shout or roar. This sound is said to have served as a natural warning for locals navigating the river on bamboo rafts, signaling an approaching dangerous section that required caution.

Another explanation stems from the terrain’s appearance: at the mouth of the gorge, jagged, tilted rock formations resemble a gaping mouth with protruding teeth. Locals, with their down-to-earth nature, simply named it “Hầm Hô.”

The period from February to July is considered the ideal time for visitors to explore Ham Ho. During these months, the weather is mild and pleasant, and the climate is relatively cool—perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
