Overview of Tien Sa Lighthouse
Also known as the Son Tra Lighthouse, Tien Sa Lighthouse stands at the eastern tip of the Son Tra Peninsula, at an elevation of 233 meters above sea level. Built by the French and put into operation in 1902, it ranks among the most beautiful and oldest historic lighthouses in Vietnam, alongside others such as those at Con Dao, Hon Lon (Nha Trang), Hon Dau (Hai Phong), Nui Nai (An Giang), and Hon Khoai (Ca Mau).
The station sits high on a mountainside amid lush forest greenery; visitors may occasionally spot monkeys and red-shanked douc langurs foraging among the tender foliage.
The site features an operations building and a lighthouse tower that embody the French architectural style of the early 20th century. The entire structure is painted yellow with white trim, a signature color scheme characteristic of French colonial-era architecture in Indochina.
