Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour (Full day)
Take the day to venture outside the city and to explore some of Vietnam’s most iconic sites. Explore the impressive network of underground routes and bunkers that make up the Cu Chi Tunnels. The Mekong Delta is known as “the rice bowl” of Vietnam, due to the seemingly endless fields of rice. In this water world, you will see houses and markets floating along the river. This is a fabulous destination for those who want to experience the humble beauty of the Mekong Delta, get closer to nature, and meet the hospitable people of this region. During the trip, you will: 7:30 Am – gathering at Viet Dream Travel office – 184 Le Lai Street, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, or our guide will pick you up at your hotel, which is located around the backpacker area in District 1, to go to Cu Chi Tunnel for one and a half hours by minivan. At the Cu Chi Tunnels, you can watch valuable documentary footage about the guerrilla war of the local people. The tour guide takes you to visit the area where modern wartime weapons are stored and then begins exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels, more than 200km long, deep underground, learning about the system, including bamboo traps, fighting bongs in the infirmary, office… and especially the famous Hoang Cam stove. You will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage, and defoliation all over the area, caused by bombing and mines, when Cu Chi was “A Free Target Zone “. The remnants you will see that the tunnels still have her evidence to prove the fierce battleground that took place there. After that, you can rest or try practicing live fire at the tunnel shooting range. Leave Cu Chi tunnels and depart for My Tho. Arriving at My Tho, the group gets on the boat to have lunch at a restaurant on the island. Next, you board a boat along the Tien River to visit the fish rafts floating on the river. The boat takes you across the Rach Mieu Bridge – a connecting bridge of 2 provinces, Vinh Long and Dong Thap. The Mekong Delta Tour go through Thoi Son islet (also known as Unicorn islet), the tour will stop ashore to visit the honey beekeeping facility and enjoy fragrant honey tea, then you will walk around and learn about the lives of local people and visit fruit gardens, enjoy seasonal fruits and listen to “Don ca tai tu” – folk music, this is a unique feature of the people of the Mekong Delta. Then you will experience the feeling of riding a sampan along a small canal, with two rows of natural coconut trees lining the water and the simple countryside scenery. Visit Dong Thap, continue walking on the village’s road to the coconut candy shop, learn how to make candy, and see some handicrafts made from coconut trees. Then get on the boat back to My Tho. Rowing a sampan in Thoi Son islet Around 16:30 – Return to Ho Chi Minh City. 18:30 – 19:00 Pm: End of Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Full Day Tour; drop off at hotels in Ben Thanh Ward or at the meeting location.
