Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Tour – Independence Palace – Ben Thanh Market (B, L, D) Get up early in the morning and have breakfast before a half-day visiting the Independence Palace, which was the former residence of President Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam (the 1960s – Apr 1975), and some French colonial buildings such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the Saigon Central Post Office. Then, return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, see the Emperor Jade Pagoda and the War Remnants Museum. After having lunch at a local restaurant, on the way back, visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, a complicated underground system of tunnels built by Vietnamese soldiers during the struggle for independence. The tunnels used to be living areas, hospitals, even weapon factories, and combat bases. Then return to Ho Chi Minh City and stay overnight. Day 4: My Tho (Dong Thap) – Can Tho (B, L, D) After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the My Tho ferry terminal: the group will take a motorboat along the Tien River to see the famous Rach Mieu Bridge and the four islets, Long, Lan, Quy, and Phung, to enjoy the peace of life in the Western region of the river.
