In 2019, a version of the Hanoi Flagpole was erected at Ca Mau Cape with a scale of almost 1:1. This place is not only a project of national significance, but also a miniature museum of Vietnamese history. Climbing about 15 floors of stairs, visitors have the opportunity to witness Ca Mau Cape from a height of 44m, surrounded by mangrove forests of the East Sea as well as alluvial plains in the West Sea. In the distance, we can see Hon Khoai about 15 nautical miles away.

Usually, people often come to Ca Mau Cape to check-in the milestones marking the geographical milestones of the country, forgetting that this place also has an extremely unique ecosystem right next to it. Walking under the mangrove canopy, visitors can breathe the fresh air and listen to the sounds of seagulls hunting for prey.

To experience the forest here more clearly, you can walk a few hundred meters to buy a boat ticket to visit Ca Mau Cape National Park. The ticket price here is 100.000VND/person for a tour of about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The boat weaves through the crisscrossing canals, visitors can freely admire the rich flora and fauna system. The most prominent are 27/32 species of mangrove trees discovered in Vietnam. The mangrove trees growing on both sides of the banks are known as “coastal guards”, with developed roots, deeply embedded in the muddy layer mixed with salt water.

Under the brackish water typical of the estuary, small fish and shrimp live in clusters, creating a food chain for the natural life here, and also the livelihood of the people in the area.

Through the forests, hidden deep in the dense mangrove forests are the simple houses of the people local. This area rarely has storms, so people rarely build solid houses. The only way to contact the outside world here is by water, so 40% of the houses on the canal are open-air houses, to make it convenient for getting on and off the boat. In areas with small waterways, makeshift monkey bridges are built precariously connecting the two banks of the canal.

Visitors can experience the feeling of walking on the bridge themselves. Although it is risky, it is no less interesting.

At the end of the tour, the guide will lead visitors to the West Sea alluvial plain. Each year, this alluvial plain advances by about 80-100m. This is also the habitat of crustaceans, and is a large seafood warehouse for the people of Dat Mui hamlet.
